Tonight, the prestigious real estate awards MIPIM Awards were bestowed on the most outstanding and accomplished projects around the world.
GAPS – New Psychiatric Hospital in Slagelse, designed by Vilhelm Lauritzen Architects and Karlsson Architects, carried off the award in the category “Best Healthcare Development”.
- Naturallly, we are incredibly happy for the recognition. There is a continuing greater focus on healthcare construction and healing architecture, where you increasingly put the patient at the forefront rather than the institution exclusively. In other words, you regard healthcare construction on a human scale, which translates into beautiful and sensuous buildings. These values are if anything manifested in GAPS, and this is strongly emphasized by tonight’s MIPIM Award,” says Thomas West Jensen, partner in Vilhelm Lauritzen Architects.
It is not the first time that Vilhelm Lauritzen Architects wins a MIPIM Award for a Healthcare project. In 2015, New Hospital North Zealand – designed in collaboration with Herzog & de Meuron – won one of the esteemed prizes.
Every year the world’s largest property fair, MIPIM, gathers the largest players of the business in Cannes in Southern France and during a large ceremony awards what is by now known as the Oscars of the real estate business.
In 2015, Vilhelm Lauritzen Architects actually won no less than two MIPIM Awards. Besides the award for New Hospital New Zealand, Krøyers Plads also won a MIPIM Award in the category “Best Residential Project”.
