It is now possible to explore the future school of Carlsberg Byen, The European School, using BAM’s VR app.
Move around between tables and benches in the canteen and from here, go directly to the gym where basketball players welcome you, and gymnastics equipment is ready for use. It is also possible to make a short trip to the building’s schoolyard on the roof, and to see the physics teacher instruct in the school’s science lab.
International school with a strong profile
The European School will have a temporary design and at the same time, it will relate architecturally to the historic surroundings. It will be an internationally accredited public school in Copenhagen, consisting of a school, leisure facilities, a gym, and open-air areas. The school will constitute a department of the internationally recognized Sankt Annæ Gymnasium.
Together, this will create an international school with a strong profile in languages, science and music, with the right setting for friendships and networking across local and international families.
A learning landscape
The European School is designed with a large spacious variation that takes place in close interaction between outside and inside. Towards Franciska Clausens Plads the building opens up towards the city in a playful learning landscape in multiple levels.
The open ground floor and the public roofscape are a part of creating identity and life in a learning environment where zones for reflection, dialogue and physical activity become an integrated part of both The European School and the identity of the area. It also invites the residents of the district inside and makes it easy to use the school facilities for many purposes.
